The Kalkara Marina is a privately run marina situated in commercial Valletta Grand Harbour. Situated close to the historical Three Cities of Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa, the Kalkara Marina provides a picturesque berthing area in Malta. Kalkara Marina is very close to all amenities, from shops, bars, restaurants, pharmacies and a health clinic to banks and a post office. Public transport is available to and from the marina at 30 minute intervals between 6am and 11pm. Many taxi services are also available.

The marina offers all amenities as well as facilities for local and overseas calls, fax and e-mail during working hours, etc. Services such as electricity supply, both 240V and 380V, and water are available from modern equipment that adequately monitors the cost against use. Clients who opt for these services will be provided with an electronic tag that will enable them to use facilities independently without necessitating Marina staff intervention.

The Three Cities – also referred to as Cottonera – provide a fascinating insight into the Maltese Islands’ history and offer a slice of authentic life as well as a glimpse into Malta’s maritime fortunes.

Cottonera can rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history, as Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua have provided a home and fortress to almost every people who settled on the Islands.

Their harbour inlets have been in use since Phoenician times and the docks have constituted a living for local people. As the first home to the Knights of St. John, the Three Cities’ palaces, churches, forts and bastions are far older than the ones found in the Capital City of Valletta.

Mixing with local communities here is mesmerizing. They celebrate holy days and festas as nowhere else on the Islands. The most spectacular events are the Easter processions when statues of the “Risen Christ” are carried through crowded streets, ending with a “sprint” towards the Church that leaves viewers gasping for air!
